Gracie Square Hospital Announces “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC)

New York, NY (May 7, 2024) – Gracie Square Hospital is proud and honored to officially announce our “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC). This designation was awarded in the16th iteration of the HRC’s Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), released May 7, 2024. A record 1,065 healthcare facilities actively participated in the HEI 2024 survey and scoring process. Of those participants, 384 received the top score of 100, earning the “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader” designation.

At Gracie Square Hospital, we demonstrate our commitment to behavioral healthcare equality in many ways, including adding preferred names to patient wristbands and using electronic medical record technology that captures pronouns, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Gracie Square Hospital also collaborates with community-based organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community. We remain committed to providing respectful, affirming and inclusive care to our patients and regularly assessing our systems, processes, and environment to help make sure the LGBTQ+ community feels safe and heard.
